Getting your Masters of Business Administration, or MBA, is an investment in your future. It isn't something you do just because you have some free time. It isn't something you do without serious thought to your future and the career that you would like to enjoy. It is an investment, and there are five great reasons that you should make time for that investment in your life.
1. When browsing resumes for potential job candidates, hiring managers are impressed when they see an MBA.
Those in charge of hiring for positions in the business world have to look through huge stacks of resumes when deciding who to call in for an interview and who to pass up. When your resume is in the pile, you are competing with many other candidates who have rather impressive work histories and educational profiles. If you have an MBA to your credit, you are far more likely to end up in the interview pile, rather than the pile that receives the form rejection.
2. You will show your current employer that you are ambitious and focused on your career.
If you are already working in your chosen career field but would like to move up to more prestigious positions, there is no better way to show your ambition than to go for your MBA. Many businesses actually require their higher management team to obtain an MBA because it increases their abilities in problem solving and managing others. If you willingly go after your MBA, you will get the attention of those with the power to give you advances and raises.
3. An MBA will place you on an equal level to your stiffest job competitors.
If you are searching for a job, you probably know that you are up against some very stiff competition for every position. If you didn't know that, then take it as a lesson learned right now: you are up against some very stiff competition for every single job you find. Adding an MBA to your resume can help you join the ranks of the highest qualified candidates. This eliminates a lot of the competition for many of the jobs you find.
4. An MBA focused in one discipline can help you distinguish yourself in your chosen field.
You can get a general MBA degree and pump up your resume and qualifications, but designating your chosen field by going for a specialization could increase your chances of getting a higher paying job in a field that you really want to dedicate your career to. This isn't always a good idea if you are searching for a job at the moment, since the specialization can limit the jobs that you may be deemed qualified to fill. Yet, if you are already working in your field, you could put yourself in the running for a big promotion by getting a specialized MBA.
5. You will feel far more confident when you walk into work each morning.
Getting your MBA is a huge achievement that can give your self-confidence a major boost. This confidence will register in your handshake and smile when you walk into job interviews and it will register in your body language every day on the job. Others will see that confidence, including those who could consider your for advancements.
