Would you like to go back to school and earn your MBA? Wherever you are in your career right now, there are always higher levels of achievement that could be gained with the successful completion of an MBA program. This quick guide will introduce you to your MBA program options. Which would best fit your needs, personality and schedule?
Full-Time MBA Program
If you can study full time, you can get through your MBA program faster, but you will also have to invest more time in your studies. This is typically an option for those fresh out of college who want to achieve an MBA so they are more likely to find a good paying job right away. Those already working in the business world typically do not have the time to devote to full time MBA studies.
Part-Time MBA Program
Part time MBA programs are ideal for those who need to work a full time job while going to school. Those with heavy family responsibilities commonly take advantage of these programs, so they can get their higher education without taking as much time away from time spent caring for children or parents. This used to be the only option for those with limited time to attend class, but today there are some other options available.
Executive MBA Program
The Executive MBA, or EMBA, is designed for executives already working in the business world. Many businesses send their executives to these programs while others make special accommodations to help those who choose to attend these programs on their own. Everything is tailor fit to help working executives gain the skills they need to manage others and make business decisions, without spending a lot of time away from the office.
Different programs will run for different lengths of time and will vary on the amount of classroom time required. Since the students in these classes already have at least a couple years of working experience at the executive level, the coursework is very different from a full time MBA program dedicated to those with little to no executive working experience.
Accelerated MBA Program
Accelerated programs are designed to go from start to completion within a very short period of time. Most programs run either one or two years and are designed for those who want to study hard for a short period of time to get their advanced business degree faster. This works well for those who are unemployed, since it allows them to boost their resume faster and hopefully get a high paying job much faster.
Distance Learning/Online MBA Program
This is the option that wasn't always available to those seeking an MBA. Those with heavy responsibilities in other areas of life and those who have to keep working a full time job while going to school often consider these programs along with part time programs. The advantage is you do not have to spend any time in a classroom, but the disadvantage for some is finding time to get the work done while at home.
All of these MBA program options have their advantages and disadvantages. They are all ideal for different people. The good news is that everyone interested in securing an MBA will find an option that fits their needs perfectly.
