For a lot of individuals, studying is W-O-R-K. It is not considered something pleasurable. In fact, it can be quite stressful for most people. Remember too that it does not mean that you'll receive high school grades just because you know how to study. There are effective studying tips or strategies for students that you have to understand first and put into practice to up the chances of gaining better marks. Here are some of those tips:
1. Make sure that you give each and every class, lesson, or professor your full attention. What's the use of being present in a class when you're head is somewhere e.g. imagining about your upcoming date, thinking about your soccer practice, wondering about what you'll buy from the mall, and so on? If you aim to have high school grades, you have to really concentrate and see to it that while you're in class, you'll only be thinking of the lessons, listen to your teacher and jot down notes, etc.
2. Another tip on how to study effectively is for you to know yourself better in terms of the kind of ambiance, environment, etc, you need in order for you to study well. If you can't concentrate when there's even a little bit of noise, for example, one of the effective studying tips is for you to soundproof your study room so you won't be able to hear noises or loud sounds outside. If you can't study without hearing music, for instance, part of the list of strategies for students that you can do is to always have an MP3 player or even the music player on your mobile phone ready so you can study wherever and whenever and still have music during study time. Keep in mind: 'Different strokes for different folks' - not all people get high school grades using the same techniques, environment, and so on.
3. Asking intelligent questions is also one of the answers to the concern of how to study well. Do not ask questions just because you want to make a teacher or a fellow student feel embarrassed or just because you want to test other people's knowledge. You should ask subject or topic related questions that you really are not clear about. Do not be embarrassed to ask your professor questions or your colleagues questions especially when the answers you'll get will help you understand the subjects more, aid you in acing the exams, and the like.
Other effective studying tips and strategies for students that will enable you to enjoy high school grades include: setting a schedule for studying and sticking to that schedule; writing down lectures or notes about the discussion and of course, reviewing what you've written and also memorizing most of them; taking a break especially when you're feeling tired, or as if nothing is entering your mind because of studying for too long; among others.
