Socks should always make the whole outfit come together and are like a convergence point of the whole ensemble although the socks themselves should not necessarily match with anything.

Socks should always make the whole outfit come together and are like a convergence point of the whole ensemble although the socks themselves should not necessarily match with anything.

When it comes to suits, dark socks are the best bet; especially the black type of socks while the printed socks are just a statement of one's personality.
The debate on how to match the socks with the rest of the attire rages on. The conservative dresser will suggest that gray, navy and brown shades are the only agreeable colors when you put on a suit, a tie and the shoes are black in color. Suit enthusiasts will match the color of the socks and the shoe and suit and the traditionalist will probably wear brown or tan socks with brown shoes and black or gray socks with black shoes.

People who are fashion conscious and are inclined towards modern dressing styles will view socks as a fashion item and probably be adventurous with their socks. You might find them wearing socks with patterns or choosing a variety of colors that are not traditionally blue, black, gray or brown. These styles however do not really matter if you are planning on wearing a suit and a tie. So how should you match your socks with your suit and tie?

* Firstly, your socks should be the same color or matching with your suit but of a darker color than your suit.

* Never wear white socks or bright socks, or even socks that don't match with the tone of your suit.

* Again it is important to know the different types of socks because we have casual socks, athletic socks and dress socks.

* The first general rule in matching colors socks with your attires is to unify the color of your socks along with your suit color.

* So when wearing light suits, choose dark socks as against the suit you plan to wear, at the same time you need to make sure that they do not overpower the color of your shoes.

* Dark suits dark shoes like charcoal and black respectively are look very elegant when teamed up with socks that are dark grey in color. This makes the outfit flow from the top downwards and sets apart the clothes and the socks while at the same time looking well coordinated.

* If you've planned to wear dress shoes then make sure that you steer clear of white socks. Plan to catch everyones attention in the room then in that case opt for a bolder look. You could choose socks that match your tie, for e.g. a red tie and a red socks, but if you plan on knocking everyone off their socks then make sure that its patterned.

* Make sure that your socks and your tie are not patterned, it will only add to the choas in your dressing style. To be on the safer side make sure that only your socks are patterned while the rest is in solid color.
