One of the biggest mistakes men make when dressing in fashion is thinking that in order to be fashionable they have to dress like the jet setters. This is not true and often the biggest downfall of a man that is entering his senior years.
Even the middle aged businessman will quite often neglect to change his clothing style that he was used to in his 20's, and now still in his late 30's he is dressing the same way. What it basically comes down to is really not giving it much thought or realizing that clothing does change with age.
The mistake lies with watching what is in fashion but not taking into account the age of the model wearing it perhaps. This is a key to staying within fashion, meaning look at the fashion for the applicable age group.
There is certainly no rule saying that as you become a senior that your taste in clothes has to dwindle, or that you can no longer enjoy the fashion world. To the contrary, at this age you can dress exceptionally well, and with the proper choice of clothing look fantastic and full of life and exuberance. In fact choosing the right fashionable clothing can take years of the way you look.
Where the problem begins is with some seniors who believe in order to maintain their youthfulness they need to dress as the younger generation . This can backfire and actually make the senior look out of character, and as if he is trying to be much younger than what he is. The expectation of growing old gracefully is somewhat lost.
When a senior chooses clothes that are applicable to his age which is largely based on the cut and style of the clothing, it makes a big difference. If the aging gentleman is trying to cram himself into a pair of designer jeans that were made for the build of a twenty year old, then of course it isn't going to work. That same senior though wearing a pair of Armani casual pants is going to look most impressive.
It comes down to the cut of the clothing that is really important. Color is pretty well a what ever you like and want, sort of issue now. It doesn't matter what the men's attire is, it must all be considered according to the age to a certain degree. It doesn't mean that because a man has just hit sixty-five that he can't wear the same style he wore when he was sixty. What it means is make sure the clothes fit the body appropriately. This is applicable both to being too tight and too baggy. Clothes that are too baggy on a senior can tend to make him look old and actually add a few years to his overall appearance. The goal here is to utilize the clothing to bring the best of the man out pertaining to his age.
