There has been a lot of press lately regarding the scholarship and grants for single moms. The focus seems to be on mothers, but does it only pertain to those specific women? Can it pertain to men or high school graduates as well? Here are a few answers to help answer this question.
Going to college can be quite a change in anyone's life. Whether you are going to an actually university campus, or you are starting online classes this week, you will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by the sheer strangeness that is called the college life.
Few people realize that when you are attending your classes that your mindset has to be different. You are absorbing so much information that it is hard to process your classes and sometimes the world around you.
To make things easier, your financial situation needs to be taken care of. This can be through school loans or scholarships. However, one of the easiest ways to get funding for college is to apply for grants online.
The sheer volume of companies that are jumping on this bandwagon of providing information to get anyone a college education for free is almost overwhelming. Whether you are watching television or answering your emails, you can't help buy notice the commercials and emails promising to help you get a college degree at no cost.
Whether you go to your email or look online, there is bound to be a banner promoting free money for college for single mothers. Whether these offers are true or not, only time will tell. Once enough people get taken by fraudulent companies, the FCC will shut them down.
The problem is that there are legitimate companies out there offering a good service by providing the locations of websites and companies that actually offer this type of funding for female college bound women who are trying to raise a family at the same time.
What is not told is whether or not this money is for just those people or if anyone can get access to the same type of funding.
It is true that the current administration seems to keep promoting this aspect of their federal aid programs. What is not promoted as often is how anyone can also apply for this same type of funding.
If you fill out the FAFSA online and submit it to the government, you will automatically be entered into a list of people that may qualify for up to $5500 in free government grants. This is for everyone, not just single mothers.
Therefore, if your goal is to go to school, and earn a college degree from your favorite university, as long as you are an undergraduate not seeking a degree higher than a BA, you can get access to this funding just like everyone else.
The key to getting this funding is to make sure you apply early. It is distributed on a first come first serve basis, so you will want to be on top of your game and submit your information early in the year, well before classes begin in the fall. This funding is for everyone and not just single moms.
