There are dozens of different websites out there that offer online AED training, CPR and first aid training, but not all programs are the same. Some of them are more detailed, more thorough, more legitimate and more expensive than others. Some have been approved by organizations and others seem to only be up to make money. Be sure that the website you are considering for your AED training is legitimate, approved and worthy of your money, time and efforts.
Qualities of good websites are many, and include having interactive, multi media pages and content that packs the site to help you learn better. Pictures are good, demonstrations and flash presentations are better! The training, practice and testing components of any courses for any relative subject should be compliant with the AHA and/or other related professional organizations. Many health care facilities in fact will only accept courses that have been approved by these groups. For example, most professional facilities require that their medical personnel take CPR courses that have been approved by the American Heart Association.
Be sure that at the end of your online AED training that you will receive certification that will be good for two years that is also nationally recognized. You should also be able to print that certification right from your home printer and should also have access to a free wallet card if you so desire. Some websites offer refresher courses and updated training throughout a certain time period after your certification. Always find out how many years of experience in providing online AED training the website owners have, because with something so important, experience means a lot.
You may want to look for a website that offers customized virtual training that is specific to the type of AED that you have in your home or workplace or you can request that a more general approach be taught to you in the courses. Some websites offer different available options along with the training such as having the program presented in Spanish, offering CPR hands on skills, WorkSafe AED Management Programs, blended training, online only courses and others.
Look for customer feedback and comments on the website about the training that others have received; this may be your best indication of the quality of education you can expect from the company. Good quality programs should have free demos available for people to get a taste of what they can expect for their money. Look to see how long the company has been in business, and read up carefully on the About Us section that every good site should have. Are they rated and approved by OSHA? Are they accepted in your state by your facility? There should be a customer service number available for you to call with any questions you may have about your online AED training.
