Online education is sky rocketing because of the money available to people who apply for it! Yes, you have to apply for scholarships, unless you are like many young athletes and have won scholarships based on your sport!
Read, read and read some more about the eligibility rules for the scholarship you are interested in applying for, sometimes guidelines are set up for specific scholarships and it's important to know what the rules are before you waste time and energy in filling out all the paper work to find out that you can't get this scholarship.
Get all your information together for the scholarship. If you are first starting out to get your associates degree - two year or you are working on your bachelor's degree - four year you will need the previous terms transcripts, for two year you will need your high school transcripts, letters of recommendation, an essay or two and financial aid forms - FAFSA or Profile forms. You may also need your parents' income statement (a copy of their tax return) and/ or standardized test scores.
All scholarships have an application; you need to proof read the application! Do not leave any blank spots! If you are required to turn in an essay, and then make sure you follow the letter to a tee! Do not go over the limit of words with your essay. Stay close to the actual count, but do not go over! Make sure your application is legible! It's important to make sure you have made copies of everything you are including in your scholarship application.
Before your application leaves your house, make sure you have checked it over again. If you have a deadline that is still a month away, do not procrastinate! Get your scholarship request into the company or organization as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more likely you are to miss the deadline. Better safe than sorry!
Online Universities and Colleges allow for students to receive private scholarships, but what you need to know is, if you are awarded a scholarship and you have submitted financial papers to your university, you may see a reduction in the amount of money the college or university will cover. If you are uncertain about the scholarship that has been awarded to you, you may contact your online university or college and they will be able to walk you through what types of aid have been reduced.
